Peru is a treasure chest full amazing cities, scenery and people to discover. The country boasts an array of stunning geography from the towering Andes Mountains to the rich jungles of the Amazon to the beaches on the coast. There’s also plenty of culture to discover since this country is home to the Inca Empire that flourished 500 years ago.
Lima, Peru’s capital city, isn’t the most beautiful place to visit in Peru, but it is home to many amazing museums, a great nightlife and music scene and plenty of cultural must-sees for the history buff.
However, the scenery of Peru is what captures the heart and mind outside of Lima, the most prominent feature being the Andes Mountains which house indigenous highlanders who still keep a traditional way of life. Peru is also home to one of the most spectacular sites in the world, the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu.
Peru also hosts some of the continent’s best festivals like the Inti Raymi at Cuzco, an Incan festival packed with colorful dances and parades.
