Description:

You will spend time in Panama City where you will tour the highlights of this modern city and the Panama Canal. Then its off to the Caribbean Coast where you will learn about the Kuna culture, one of the most independent indigenous people in Central America. This is followed by some time relaxing at a Caribbean resort. Finally, we will spend time in the rainforest and along the Chagres River where you can spot animals not seen anywhere else in Central America in the Western Hemisphere's biggest rainforest outside of the Amazon Basin.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Welcome to Panama

A representative will pick you up at the Tocumen International Airport. We will then take you to your hotel. Enjoy a refreshing welcome drink while you check in and have some time to relax and freshen up. Overnight at the Hotel Caesar Park Panama, no meals included.

Day 2: Panama City and Canal Tour

This morning we will see the original ruins of Panama and the colonial city that replaced them in the 17th century. We will also visit the Museum of the Inter-Oceanic Canal that tells the story of the construction of the canal from start to finish.

We take a break from touring for a lunch at either Mi Pueblito, a picturesque, re-creation of a rural village that also demonstrates the varied architecture and the history of Panama, or at one of the various restaurants in Casco Antiguo.

Finally, we will stop at the Miraflores Locks where you will experience the operation of the Panama Canal first hand. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.

In the evening we will depart for the Flamenco Marina on the Amador Causeway. There we will board a deluxe boat for a beautiful voyage on Panama Bay to see the city from a completely different perspective.

Dinner will be served on board. You will be taken back to the hotel in the late evening. Overnight at the Hotel Caesar Park Panama B / L

Day 3: Explore an Indigenous Culture in Kuna Yala

After an early breakfast you will be transferred to the Domestic Airport for your flight to the San Blas Islands, home to the Kuna Indians. Upon landing you will be taken by boat to the Dolphin Island Lodge, a small resort with basic yet comfortable accommodation. Enjoy the day soaking up the sun, immersing yourself in the distinctive Kuna culture, visiting a few of their island communities, watching their native dances and delighting in the unique handicrafts called molas.

Day 4: Caribbean Adventures

After a light breakfast you will be taken to the airport for your return flight to Panama City. After arriving you will be taken by bus and small boat to the Bananas Resort on Isla Grande. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy the facilities or relax by the pool or on the beach.

Take advantage of the water sports or other tours offered by the resort.

Dinner will be served at the resort.

Day 5: More Adventure Caribbean Style

Continue to enjoy the relaxing lifestyle on this tropical Caribbean Island. Overnight at the Banana’s Resort B / L

Day 6: Adventure on the Chagres River

We will leave Bananas early in the morning and be taken by bus to the start of our jungle adventure. Leaving the shores of Madden Lake behind and venturing up the Chagres River in a motorized dugout canoe until reaching the Indigenous Community of the Embera Drua Indians. Here you will immerse yourself in their unique culture, taking part in their dances, enjoying a typical indigenous lunch, learning about the medical qualities of the local plants from their “Medicine Man” and even returning with some traditional Embera body art.

There is an option to enjoy tubing on the river as well. We will return to Panama City in the late afternoon. Overnight at the Hotel Caesar Park Panama. B / L

Day 7: Gamboa Adventure

We will depart in the morning for the Gamboa Rainforest Resort where you will enjoy a variety of adventures including; the aerial tram into the rainforest canopy, the snake house, the butterfly farm, the orchid exhibit and the aquarium. There will also be ample opportunity to take any of the optional tours offered by the resort. Lunch will be served at the Los Lagartos restaurant at the resort. We will return to the hotel late in the afternoon.

Dinner tonight will be at a traditional Panamanian Restaurant – Typical Panamanian dishes accompanied by traditional dances and music. You will have a chance to see the beautiful national dress of Panama called the “Pollera”.

Day 8: Departure Day

After breakfast at the hotel you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
