Pipeline Road - Soberania National Park
This tour is perfect for nature lovers and bird watchers. Pipeline Road is within Soberania National Park close to the banks of the Panama Canal. The forest is home to some 385 species of birds, a paradise for bird watchers. Pipeline Road is also a site for scientific research of the plants, insects, reptiles and mammals in this habitat. You are sure to learn a great deal about the secrets of the forest from our knowledgeable naturalist guide.
Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by nature. En route back to the city you will stop at the Miraflores Locks to see the Panama Canal in operation and watch an interesting audiovisual presentation that explains how this engineering marvel works.
Metropolitan Nature Park
Located only 15 minutes from the city, the Metropolitan National Park is the most accessible national park from Panama City and the only tropical forest inside a major urban area in Latin America. It is a site for tropical scientific research and is rich in wildlife. Ideal for those with limited time.
More than 250 known species of birds have been observed here and more than 40 species of mammals, including marmosets, white tailed deer, sloth, anteaters, iguanas and tortoises. You will likely be able to see some of these as you walk along the nature trails up to the lookout point on the top of the hill from where you can see a panoramic view of Panama City, the Bay of Panama and the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal.
