Description:
We hike a highland section of the Cayambe-Coca reserve on the eastern flanks of the Andes, overlooking the Amazon to a freshwater lagoon. The day is concluded with a relaxing soak in the steamy hot springs in Papallacta.

As we hike from 3,600 to 4,200 meters, we’ll enjoy stunning views of the Antisana volcano. During our 3-4 hours hike, we’ll discover this wonderful ecosystem and see how the endemic plants have adapted to such high altitude and cool temperatures. If we are lucky we might spot an Andean fox, rabbits, deer and perhaps even the elusive spectacle bear. We close this magnificent day with a soothing and therapeutic relaxing bath in the mineral, sulfate and alkaline rich waters of the Papallacta Hot Springs Resort.
