Quito, Ecuador Description
From a mattress on the floor to a suite at the Marriott, Quito has a hotel to meet everyone's needs. The prices tend to be a little higher than in other parts of the country, but so is the overall quality. There are some basic things to look for in a hotel in Quito. With cool evenings year-round, hot water and thick blankets are a necessity. Location is also important and will greatly impact the kind of experience you have. There is a good variety of hotels in every neighborhood, so if you want a non-touristy experience, it is worth it to venture out of the Mariscal area. If you are willing to spend a little more money on lodging, consider staying at one of the many upscale Ecuadorian-run hotels instead of an international chain like the Sheraton, Marriott or Hilton. They offer the same services and you get a better taste of Ecuador. Also, many hotels have rooms with beatiful views of the Pichincha volcanoes or city skylines at no extra charge, so it never hurts to ask.
