Against the back drop of pine-covered mountains, the Honduran capital, Tegucigalpa, is more pleasant than most Central American capitals and you don't have to go far from the city to find a number of worthwhile attractions. The enormous Gothic Baslica de Suyapa and La Tigra National Park, which is home to ocelots, pumas, monkeys, and myriad other wildlife, are located within just a few dozen kilometers of the capital. Outside of the capital region, travelers can look forward to great snorkeling and diving in the reefs of the Bay Islands of Roatn, Guanaja, and Utila, as well as trips to the beautiful colonial town of Comayagua, the ruins of Copn, and the Caribbean towns of Trujillo and Tela.
